How to use the keyboard tester

Press any key. When that physical position is included in the compact keyboard view, its keycap highlights while held. The latest browser-reported key and code are shown for detected keys even when a dedicated keycap is not drawn.

Physical code and visible labels

Highlighting follows KeyboardEvent.code, which represents a physical key position. The compact visible labels use a familiar reference layout, so they may not exactly match every keyboard locale or printed keycap.

Browser and operating-system limitations

Some operating-system or browser-reserved shortcuts may never reach the page. A shortcut that is not observable here should not by itself be treated as proof of broken keyboard hardware. This tester does not block normal Tab navigation or globally prevent default keyboard behavior.
